When her 11-year-old son’s behavior became overwhelming, Pat felt helpless. She didn’t know what to do or how to help her son, Kevin, as his behavior continued to change and his grades started failing.

She soon learned Kevin had Attention Deficit Disorder and multiple learning challenges. Unsure what to do next, Pat reached out to Children’s Home Society of Florida for help.

She began attending our Parent Support Group, where she received advice from trained professionals and insight from others going through similar struggles. Kevin also began to attend counseling regularly.

Two years later, Pat is proud to share that her son’s disposition is as different as night and day. Now, instead of failing classes, Kevin is an A/B honor-roll student and hopes to attend a magnet school for engineering.

Pat shares, “Kevin tells me all the time, ‘Mom, I don’t want to remember what I used to be like.’ Life is good.”
