Celebrating our child welfare professionals
We honor our unsung heroes all year long!
Child welfare is one of the most difficult careers you can have, but, to me, it’s the most rewarding. It’s enjoyable working with families and kids knowing you can make a difference in their lives.
I especially enjoy bringing families back together, helping parents work through challenges that once threatened their family stability so their kids are able to return home. Sometimes a drug or alcohol addiction has taken over someone's life and it affects everything, including the safety of the family, especially the kids. Many times, parents who are struggling with addiction really want help, but they don’t know where to begin. I’m able to help them find the support and programs they need to change their lives, and they really change dramatically so they can provide a safe home for their kids. Those stories make me realize I’m where I’m supposed to be: helping to keep families in tact.
