Western MODEL Program

Children's Home Society has been providing services to children and their families since 1902. The Western Division, CHS' first division, was established in 1920, and serves Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties. The CHS MODEL program is a one-to-one community-based mentoring program for children who have a parent incarcerated in a federal or state prison. Each youth is matched with a mentor who can provide guidance and support to help each child develop to their fullest potential.

The Mentors will need to:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Complete an application, interview and background screening
  • Attend an orientation session
  • Commit one hour per week for one year

Youth must be 4-15 years old with a parent incarcerated in a state or federal prison at the time of program admission.

CHS invites you to become a good role model and have fun with a youth. Many of these children have never been fishing, swimming, kite flying, bowling, skating, or biking. Mentors Opening Doors Enriching Lives offers an awesome opportunity to establish a rewarding friendship with a child.
