Who qualifies for Independent Living services?
Teens ages 13 to 17 who are in foster care and young adults who have recently exited the foster care system (if you're 18 or older, you must be in school and employed)
What can Independent Living services do for me?
Prepare you for adulthood. The day you turn 18, you become responsible for everything in your life, from paying rent to finding transportation to grocery shopping. It can be overwhelming. If you're not prepared, it can be nearly impossible.
We want to help you prepare for that day - the day you become a legal adult.
So how do you help me?
Among the many things we do, we make sure you know you're not alone. Not sure how to complete a job application? We'll help you. Don't know how to get a driver's license? We'll guide you. Worried about where you'll live the day you turn 18? Let us know - we'll help. Other ways we help include:
- Educational guidance. Want to earn your GED? Graduate high school? Enroll in college?
- Career planning
- Budgeting
- Cleaning
- Finding reliable transportation
- Finding health care
- A work-study program that connects you with local businesses
- Professionals' night - eat dinner and interact with local professionals
