More than a Thrift Shop

Staffed almost entirely by volunteers and stocked with carefully selected donated items, the Family Treasures Thrift Shop is a community effort. Purchasing from and donating to the Thrift Shop is more than a transaction.  The blouse you donate today could change a life! 

All of our profits go toward helping Children's Home Society of Florida create stronger families and brighter futures for children throughout Mid-Florida, and our store provides free items to families who are going through difficult transitions.

Last year, we helped nearly 300 families in our community by providing more than $6,300 worth of clothes, furniture, toys and household items. By supporting the Family Treasures Thrift Shop, you're a part of that effort! Together, we've built a place where everyone can find great deals and join Children's Home Society of Florida in our mission of Embracing Children. Lighting fixtures "buy one get one" sale!

Thanks to a generous donation of lighting fixtures from Gaineville  Lighting, we are now offering new, boxed lighting fixtures for less than wholesale prices!  For those of you looking to remodel more than one room, we have duplicates of most fixtures. Drop by to see our full selection!

We would love to have you donate to the Family Treasures Thrift Shop! Please feel free to drop off your donation at our Thrift Shop during store hours.

Donating furniture?

Family Treasures Thrift Shop offers free furniture pick ups through Gator Moving on Wednesdays.  To schedule your pick up, please call us at: (352) 334-0955. When you call, we'll ask you a few questions about your donation to help prepare our movers. Please understand that we do not accept items with tears, stains or severe fading because it's difficult to sell a damaged donation. 

Volunteer

We have opportunities for individuals and groups year-round. Help sort and process donations, greet customers, operate the cash register and make sure the store is in tip-top shape! You can also help "shop" for clients, whether it's finding the perfect back-to-school outfit for a third-grader or picking out books a family can read together. 

When you volunteer, you can receive a voucher to use in the Family Treasures Thrift Shop (amount depends upon the number of hours served).

Our thrift shop also hosts monthly community events, and we need volunteers to help! Events range from reading days to arts and crafts.
