It's easy to get involved -- and we need your help. Find an advocacy avenue to add your voice to our chorus for children.

Advocacy Days at the Capitol

Advocating on behalf of the children whose voices are too soft to be heard -- children who rely upon us for protection, guidance and opportunities -- is rewarding and effective.

Each year, Children's Home Society of Florida child and family advocates gather at the State Capitol to meet with legislators, network with like-minded individuals and spread our message to Florida's leaders. See our teams in action.

Advocating year-round

  • When legislators aren't in Tallahassee for annual session, schedule a local meeting and include their staff to voice your concerns for Florida’s children.
  • Legislators always need credible resources – stay informed and become a go-to source.
  • 39 of 160 House and Senate members are term-limited. Volunteer on a campaign.
  • Invite legislators and staff to local Children's Home Society of Florida events.
  • Attend your legislative delegation's public meetings to share issues important to you and your community.
  • Send local legislators periodic correspondence, such as one of our e-news updates or newsletters.
  • Email or write to Congress and to state legislators to request support for funding and legislation that improve safety and supports for kids.

Other ways you can help

Remember, advocating on behalf of children can be as simple as helping raise awareness among your family, friends and colleagues.

If you wish to do more, lift your voice by:

  • Inviting a Children's Home Society of Florida representative to speak to your club, class or congregation. Request a local contact.
  • Writing letters to the editor of your local newspaper to call awareness to commemorative months like National Child Abuse Prevention Month (April) or Foster Care Month (May). View our calendar for more ideas.
  • Posting on social media to share issues, events and volunteer opportunities with your friends.
