I. Lorraine Thomas Children's Home and Family Support Center

What is the Children's Home?

I. Lorraine Thomas Children's Home and Family Support CenterIt's a warm, nurturing group home for boys ages 8 to 15 who have suffered severe abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or exploitation.

Because of the intense trauma these boys have endured, traditional foster homes and group homes are unable to provide the specialized therapy and care they need to begin healing from their pain.

The Children's Home can care for up to 12 boys at a time. Our professional, experienced staff is at the home 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As the boys learn how to cope with their pasts, our counselors teach them healthy ways to express their emotions. When our boys leave the Children's Home, they're able to live in family settings.

What's the history of the Children's Home?

The home is named for I. Lorraine Thomas, generous benefactor and wife of the late Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's International, Inc.

Our East Broward Auxiliary, created in 1989 to raise funds for the home, launched a capital campaign led by Dave and Lorraine Thomas that allowed us to open the home debt-free in 1994.
