| The Buckner Division, located in Jacksonville, is proud to be the founding home of Children's Home Society of Florida. In 1902, Dr. D.W.Comstock came to Jacksonville as a representative of the National Children's Home Society, which was formed in Illinois in 1883. He, along with other Jacksonville religious and civic leaders, formed the Children's Home Society of Florida on November 17, 1902.
The Buckner Division's 165 employees provide services to children and families in Duval, Baker, St. Johns, Nassau and Clay counties. Services include: birth parent counseling, residential maternity care, adoption, family foster care including pre-adoptive foster care, medically needy foster care for children with complex medical problems, therapeutic foster care for children with serious emotional and behavioral problems, and teen foster care, which is part of a network of local agencies.
