Fred's story: Completing the circle
I recently contacted you regarding identifying information on my birth mother. Because of your professionalism and caring attitude, we were graciously told that the information on my birth certificate was a match, and my birth mother and I have been reunited for a full eight days as of the writing of this e-mail.
I must admit, posting my profile on an adoption registry website Sunday morning and getting an e-mail from a strange person one day later made me feel very uneasy. I was told by a search angel on that website to call your offices for confirmation. After you spoke with me and then to my birth mother, everything was confirmed, and it just seemed so surreal to both of us. I couldn't believe that after almost 42 years, I had found my birth mother. All of this happened so quickly.
We both decided to take our reunion story slow – e-mailing and getting to know each other via e-mail first before making the next step in communicating on the telephone. Last night, we spoke for the first time and did a lot of laughing, a little bit of crying and tried to make sense of all of this while hearing each other's voices on the telephone.
The feelings of friendship are definitely in the air and our desire to be in each other's lives is reciprocated between the two of us. We have no idea where our story will lead us, but we have both pledged to take it slow, get to know each other as best as we can, and finally meet each other in person at a later time.
I am happily married for 23 years and have four children and one grandson that I look forward to introducing to my birth mother. She is currently married for 31 years, has another son, parents, sister and other family members I hope to meet one day as well.
Thank you very much for your guidance during this process. I am so happy to have been reunited with my birth mother and would be remiss in not e-mailing to say thank you for your help.
Again, thank you very much, and God bless you and Children's Home Society of Florida for a wonderful complete circle of events 42 years in the making.
