Melody is a young mother who began working with her Children’s Home Society of Florida counselor on a daily basis to identify the specific steps necessary to take charge of her life and provide a safe home for her newborn.  As a Children’s Home Society of Florida client, Melody received counseling, support and household items she needed from the Family Treasures Thrift Shop. 

“I was starting from scratch,” Melody says. “I was given baby items, diapers and even clothing for myself." 

Looking back a year later, Melody remembers what it was like to feel helpless and hopeless.

“People don’t know how frightening that can be," says Melanie.

But with help from Children’s Home Society of Florida, she did not have face her challenges alone.

Melody says, “I just needed a little jump start after my daughter’s birth. Now I am working full-time, going to school full-time, and I am even able to give back to the organization that made it possible for me to keep my daughter safe and at home with me.”
