Host a gift-gathering drive
Thousands of Florida's children do without things most of us take for granted; simple daily needs like toiletries for teen girls, teething rings for babies, or new clothes and shoes instead of hand-me-downs. And on special days, like birthdays, holidays and the first day of school, many of these kids would go empty-handed without the kindness of Champions like you. Rally your choir group, neighborhood association, or moms club to help you collect brand new items for children who will treasure clothes of their very own, a new lunchbox or a special holiday present. View current wish lists and giving guides and share your plans with us so we can give you tips on the greatest needs of children in your community.
Share your special occasion
Special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and holidays are perfect times to increase awareness of your Champions for Children commitment. Suggest that your friends and family donate on your personal page in lieu of traditional gifts. We'll provide free promotional items and giveaways to help you get the word out. For tips from your local Champions team, share a little about your celebration and be sure to ask for free supplies and giveaways.
Adopt a program/Create a fund to help a child
You may wish to focus your efforts toward a specific need. Learn how our programs impact children, then let us know which area you'd like to support. We can share with you opportunities and giving amounts that will make a difference for kids. Then, appeal to people in your circle to inform them of children's needs and your special concern. Suggest your contacts donate to support your program. We'll be happy to provide materials to help promote your special cause, once you get started.
Use holidays and commemorative months to spread the word
Most people open their hearts to helping others during special times of the year. Choose your favorite months and holidays to engage your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues in your Champions for Children effort. Perhaps National Adoption Awareness Month in November has special meaning for you. Or Child Abuse Prevention Month in April when blue ribbons for kids abound. Ask for gifts in honor or memory of parents on Mother's and Father's Days. Send your contacts cards, personal email appeals, links to your personal Champions page or team page. If you'd like free materials to promote this opportunity, be sure to ask.
