Services Offered
Adoption
Finds forever families for children through special needs, traditional and international adoption services. Also includes post-adoption therapeutic and support services to families. Adoptive family recruitment activities include the Heart Gallery of Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast, a traveling photo exhibit of local children waiting to be adopted.
Baines Hall Group Home for Girls
A residence for up to 12 girls ages 11-17 who have had difficulties in foster home settings or other programs.
Child Protection Team
Provides assessments and referrals for child victims of physical and sexual abuse. Assessment includes medical and psychological components.
Services/Families in Need of Services (CINS/FINS)
A program for truant and ungovernable children and their families. Offers case management, supportive counseling and a runaway shelter for teens.
Dependency Case Management
Provides services to families and children who have experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment. Caring professionals work with families and children in their homes to maintain and strengthen the family unit. When necessary, children may temporarily be placed in foster care or a group home to ensure their safety and well-being.
SafePlace
Makes it possible for any youth in crisis to access help at locations that display the SafePlace sign, including fast food restaurants, convenience stores, fire stations and libraries. SafePlace connects youth with immediate help and safety while offering supportive services to youth and their families.
Teen Life Choices
Teaches teens why and how to avoid sexual involvement, thus helping to prevent teen pregnancy. Also provides intensive case management and education to pregnant teens.
Transitional Living Program
Provides aftercare services for youth who age out of the foster care system on their 18th birthday. Young adults ages 18-23 receive case management services, life skills training and temporary housing in order to promote independence and prevent homelessness.
WaveCREST Shelter
A 12-bed temporary shelter for non-delinquent youth ages 11-17. In addition to safety, shelter, food and clothing, youth receive intensive individual, family and group counseling, structured activities, recreation, and life skills training in a homelike environment.
