Meet Miss Teddy
Miss Teddy, 18 years old, is a former resident from CHS' Transitions Home Program, a nurturing environment for teenage mothers and mothers-to-be, who are homeless or in foster care. After enduring years of abuse and neglect, she got pregnant. Without any place to go, Miss Teddy went to Transitions Home, where she safely had her son at the age of 15. Two years later, after learning a lot about pre- and post-natal care, parenting skills and independent living, Miss Teddy moved to an apartment through the Road to Independence Program. In May of 2011, Miss Teddy graduated from high school. She plans to start attending college classes in the fall to become a cosmetologist, but her dream doesn't stop here. Miss Teddy wants to continue her studies to pursue a degree in radiology in order to make a better living to give her son everything she didn't have growing up.
