Generous donation from Wings of Hope Foundation

Release date: 1/3/2006

South Daytona, Fla., January 3, 2006 – The Wings of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Ponce Inlet that supports shelters and community homes for children, has donated $50,100 to the Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS) – North Coastal Division. The money was raised at the 10th Annual Wings of Hope Foundation Dinner and Auction held September 24, 2005, in Lake Mary.

The money will be used for repairs and renovation to Girls Zone, a residential group home and emergency shelter for abused, neglected, and abandoned girls ages 13 through 17, owned and operated by CHS.

The Wings of Hope Foundation was established in memory of Brian Christopher Lanier, son of Kathy Gautsch, founder and president of the charitable organization. Brian was killed in an automobile accident in 1992. The Wings of Hope Foundation is a long-time supporter and benefactor of CHS. Additional information about the Wings of Hope Foundation may be found at www.wingsofhope.net.

"The services and programs provided by CHS are vital to the safety and well being of our community's most vulnerable children. We are honored to once again provide funding to support the loving, secure, and comfortable environment for the many children who spend time at Girl's Zone," said Kathy Gautsch.

Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS), founded in 1902, is Florida's oldest and largest child welfare agency offering adoption, foster care, child abuse and neglect prevention, family and individual counseling, case management, clinical services, and supervised visitation for more than 1,100 abused, neglected, and abandoned children and at-risk families annually in Volusia and Flagler counties. CHS operates three emergency shelters and residential group homes for children.
