CHS hosts Puttin’ on the Ritz

South Daytona, Fla., June 29, 2006 – We are delighted to announce that Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) is hosting its twenty-first annual gala event, Puttin’on the Ritz … An Elegant Affair at The Plaza Resort & Spa at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2006. This fun-filled evening will feature gourmet cuisine, live music and dancing, a champagne reception, open bar, a silent and live auction, and the company of good friends who have gathered for a worthy cause – to support abused, neglected, and abandoned children in Volusia and Flagler counties.
Tickets are now on sale for $150 each for general admission and $1,500 for a reserved table of eight with signage. Tax-deductible sponsorship packages at various levels are also available. Suggested attire is black-tie optional.
This year we will honor Senator Evelyn Lynn with our most prestigious award, the R. David Thomas Child Advocate of the Year. Dave Thomas, an adopted child and founder of the Wendy’s hamburger chain, was a lifelong supporter of the Children’s Home Society. Senator Lynn is being recognized for her extraordinary commitment to local children and families and her leadership role in sponsoring legislation addressing complex child welfare issues.
We will also honor the Daytona Beach Area Association of REALTORS® with our Volunteer of the Year Award. The Association has generously sponsored the Adopt-a-Child Backpack Program and holiday giving programs for local, disadvantaged children. The Foster Parents of the Year Award will be bestowed upon Delores and Tim Conley of New Smyrna Beach for their devoted care of foster children.
All proceeds benefit CHSand will help fund programs and services that support more than 1,100 abandoned, abused, and neglected children, and at-risk families in Volusia and Flagler counties. Tickets and sponsorships are tax deductible to the full extent allowable by law.
Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS), founded in 1902, is Florida’s oldest and largest statewide 501c3, not-for-profit, child welfare organization. The North Coastal Division was established in 1964 and offers foster care, child abuse and neglect prevention, family and individual counseling, case management, clinical services, supervised visitation, and emergency shelter and group homes.
