How much does it cost?
It does not cost families anything to attend MAPP classes or to complete the home study. Expenses associated with adopting a child in foster care are nominal, and medical and legal fees are generally reimbursed by the state of Florida, up to $1,000. CHS covers costs that occur at the time of finalization.
Is there an age limit for adoptive parents?
No. We take a comprehensive look at the family, including health history.
Is it possible to adopt a healthy infant?
By the time younger children's cases are transferred to the adoption unit, they typically have an identified placement (relative, foster parent or non-relative) that wants to adopt them. If infants are transferred to our unit without identified placement, they typically have moderate to severe special needs.
