Presenting "A Night at the Oscars"
Release date: 5/28/2010
Fort Lauderdale, FL (May 28, 2010). The East Broward Auxiliary will host its 20th Annual Black Tie Ball on September 25, 2010, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale. The auxiliary is rolling out the red carpet, following the theme “A Night at the Oscars.” The evening will feature a casino and impersonators impersonating world-famous celebrities like Joan Rivers, Jay Leno and a special performance from a Barbra Streisand impersonator.
This signature event is a major source of fundraising for Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS), Intercoastal Division. The proceeds directly benefit the abused and neglected children residing in the I. Lorraine Thomas Children’s Emergency Home and Family Support Center. More than 3 million dollars has been raised by the Black Tie Balls to help to support children and families in Broward County.
At this year’s ball, CHS will honor Dolores "Dee" Flynn with the prestigious R. David and I. Lorraine Thomas Child Advocate of the Year Award. This is the highest honor CHS bestows upon individuals and groups that have made a significant impact toward improving the lives of homeless, neglected and abused children throughout Florida. They have not only given their time, talent and financial resources, but they have also set a standard of excellence toward ensuring a better world for future generations. It was Mr. Thomas’ hope that the award would serve as a catalyst to inspire others to improve opportunities for Florida’s children.
