The "Friends" among our community's top advocates

Release date: 9/9/2009

The Friends of Joshua House (FoJH), an organization of concerned and dedicated individuals, provides fundraising, resource development and advocacy for the benefit of children we protect at Joshua House. In addition to securing operational funds, the group provides financial resources for items and activities not supported through state or local Community Based Care dollars; such support covers summer activities, school supplies, holiday gifts, extra clothing and shoes, hygiene products, allowances, tutoring, Healthy Choice Food Program essentials, and therapy funds. FoJH members also raise funds for capital support to help with maintenance, repairs and vehicles. Over the past five years, FoJH has donated more than half a million dollars to help us provide protection for Tampa Bay’s innocent victims of abuse.

The children at Joshua House receive exemplary care because our staff can concentrate on providing the nurturing and therapeutic assistance children need, rather than spending time securing resources to support services. FoJH works directly with CHS so children we serve receive opportunities for greater success in life. Every year, the "Friends" host several major fundraising events to help support the needs of at-risk children in our community. Through these efforts, Joshua House receives about $250,000 annually from FoJH. As we extend deep thanks to the “Friends,” we also thank everyone who has supported the group’s efforts by attending a fundraising event. Perhaps you’ve been to:

In these trying economic times, it’s evermore challenging to meet the needs of the broken children who find safety and comfort at Joshua House. Without the help of FoJH, it would be nearly impossible. Because of the generosity of these extraordinary individuals, we can provide a loving, nurturing, structured safe haven to children who, through no fault of their own, desperately need it.
