Gulf Coast

Greetings from the Gulf Coast Division!

Founded in 1902 to meet the needs of orphaned children, CHS has evolved to provide a continuum of care for children and families struggling with many challenges. The Gulf Coast Division has been part of the CHS family for more than 50 years. Last year we provided direct services to more than 5,000 children, as well as serving their siblings, parents, guardians and other family members. Our division serves children and families living in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto counties.

Each month, there are more than 3,200 new reports of abuse and neglect identified in the counties served by the Gulf Coast Division. We are dedicated to protecting and caring for these innocent children. Focusing on preventing abuse and neglect for more children through programs that build healthier families, CHS strives to ensure more children are safe, healthy and prepared for life.

Help us create brighter futures for the child victims of abuse and neglect in our community!

Advocacy
“In every community there is a heart to be heard”
It is the responsibility of our community to speak up for those who are not loud enough to be heard. Child victims of abuse and neglect are looking to us for security, stability and unconditional love. We are currently recruiting individuals interested in joining our Board of Directors. The Division’s Board of Directors is the driving force for the survival of our most critical programs. This is a chance to be a part of a group that will impact the lives of Gulf Coast’s most vulnerable youth.

Financial Contributions
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”
Our programs are designed to build self-esteem, teach coping skills, improve educational abilities and meet basic needs of love, protection and trust. To care for these youth, it costs the Gulf Coast Division an average of $146 per child, per day. This covers the cost of providing shelter, food, clothing, toiletry items, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, as well as educational, medical, dental, health, nutritional, and recreational services designed to meet the needs of each child. We look to our community for contributions to create better lives for child victims of abuse and neglect.
