Thomas
Thomas is 5 years old with gorgeous curly hair and caramel skin. He's very friendly, a real chatterbox. Upon meeting him, you'd never imagine the pain he has suffered.
Rather unexpectedly, Thomas shared his story with some guests one day. Because he's quite the little helper, he was placing agendas around the table for a meeting at the Crisis Nursery. He happened to notice the stapler on the table and suddenly disappeared. When he returned, he had a sealed container he was shaking vigorously. When a staff member asked what was in the box, he said "staples" and lifted his beautiful curls to reveal a scar. The staples were the ones his doctor had used to close his scalp, which split when Thomas' mother hit him in the head with a beer bottle.
Thomas, when removed from his home by the state, was taken to Children's Home Society of Florida's Crisis Nursery, a safe and loving emergency shelter for abused, neglected or abandoned children. He was given a new chance because of loving Crisis Nursery workers who cared for him until the right adoptive parents came along. Thomas' life was turned around because people like you supported the Crisis Nursery, giving him a safe haven and a new home. Thank you.
