Heather's story

Heather Williams kept hearing about Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) through many of the other girls in foster care. They were sharing how great it was for teen girls to learn to become independent. After several attempts in foster homes and the births of her sons, Heather became a resident of CHS’ Promise House for young mothers.

With help from the Promise House staff, Heather recently graduated from high school and received a full scholarship to study nursing. She credits CHS for preparing her for independence and fulfilling her dream to go to college. She now lives in an apartment and is a full-time student at FCCJ while both her sons attend day care.

This focused young woman doesn’t let anything stop her from reaching her goals. She is determined to make sure her children know the importance of education.

Heather still has a relationship with her CHS family, communicating with them at least twice a week.
