Salon PK hosts Christmas Hair Extravaganza for children who live at CHS

Release date: 12/13/2010

On Dec. 20,  Salon PK will host an exclusive Hair Extravaganza for children in Children’s Home Society of Florida’s (CHS) residential group care homes.

“During this season of giving, my team and I wanted to give back to the community by reaching out to some of Jacksonville’s neediest children,” says Pekela “PK” Riley, owner of Salon PK.

“We are thrilled to have been selected as Salon PK’s charity of choice,” said CHS’ Teen Parent Program Supervisor Kim Fore. “Some of our girls have never been to a salon and hopefully this will provide them with not just a fancy hair style, but also a boost of self-confidence.”

In addition to the free services provided to more than 20 boys and girls, Salon PK has collected Christmas gifts from its stylists and clients to be donated to the children.

Chartered in Jacksonville in 1902, CHS is a private not-for-profit organization dedicated to embracing children and inspiring lives. With a commitment to break the generational cycle of child abuse and neglect, CHS provides a broad spectrum of services including foster care, adoption, child development, residential group care, parent education and counseling.

Salon PK, located at 3733 Southside Blvd., Suite 10, is known for its trend-forward styles and relaxed nouveau salon vibe. Stylists will provide the children with a wide-range of full services including relaxers, precision cuts, shampoo and sets, which range in price from $45 to more than $100.
